All this talk about money and oil is making me sick. Water!

Well I think I've said what I needed to be said on money and oil. Money is the root of all evil and it's powers are toxic and oil is just shitty. So without further a-do. Water!

It ain't clean no more. It ain't free no more. And we are giving the cleanest and most free to oil companies (there's just no getting away from them). So what have I to do? Well after driving my van to the beach and town and back daily i quickly realized stopping would be a good solution to my wasting gas. I pulled into a property half way between the beach and brewery I had stayed at years past, a commune of sorts. Here I will have to work very little to maintain a comfortable pleasurable existence and I will be paying towards a visible viable change in culture. For Poole's Land is just that; a sanctuary for rebels and lost souls and a real direct visible difference in a way to live that is easily accessible. Here, the water IS priceless. Here the water is sacred and here it is used to grow healthy fruits and vegetables. While taking a shower you will not leave the water running the whole time you are beneath the head.

Who are you? Are you Canadian? Does Canadian mean to ignore the facts and continue existing as if we can continue forward like this forever? There must be a change or we will remain Oppressors, brutes and murderers. Don't become your parents that you disagreed with when you were freer of mind body and soul. It is better to live closer to the earth...It should be taught, enforced.

Blah blah blah....Don't put Draino down the fucking pipes!

London Riots Vs. Wallstreet and greedy Politicians

What really happened in London? Well it did not stem from nowhere, No. The anger that manifest itself was planted along time ago in the system of society where there is haves and have-nots. Large amounts of money are spent keeping few people happy safe and comfortable and perpetuating a system that, though it is completely toxic and destructive, makes these people rest easy knowing they wont actually have to sweat for their meal, or car or private jet, penthouse, second house, etc.

The other, more populous side of the coin is the ignored masses living paycheck to paycheck, getting treated like second class citizens- ignored- and watching these corporate crooks get wealthy printing money for themselves while congruently making those holding the little money they have worth less and less. The ol' rich getting richer, poor getting poorer equation.

The mainstream media holds the public hand and directs their focus on the "hooded youth" who steal ipods and jeans and a couple bottles of wine without contextualizing the broader picture of neglect and worsening living conditions for the majority citizen. And the dept heavy public who sit defenseless and scared in their overly mortgaged houses are not satisfied with the judgement handed down to these 12 and 23 year old kids. The 6 months in jail is not good enough for them for a young girl who took some ipods while the real criminals - also caught red handed and often working in public view- print dollars and pay themselves millions in bonuses and incentives.

I believe The London riots, if anything, are the manifestation of the Kubler-Ross model for grief or death. The riots being the second stage of the process and a prophetic vision for future Canada/America/Developed Countries that will also soon rise to anger as public awareness spreads of the damage inflation can do to a currency and the people who use it.

This was the last paragraph of a CN_ news article on the riots:
"The violence first broke out August 6 after protests over the death of Mark Duggan in the north London neighborhood of Tottenham. He was shot after a police unit that deals with gun crime stopped a cab carrying the 29-year-old father of four.

The people had a right to be mad, they demonstrated their anger and some trifles were lost. If corporate owned Media would choose to focus on the real reasons and problems for the riots; The growing disparity between rich and poor, the violent and perverted abuse of those with power and the lack of a real believable promising future for anyone or anything then, and only then, might we be able to advance.

People need to get their priorities straight and realize who's on who's side. There are more people that will suffer from a few one sided big handed deals legislation and laws then a thousand petty crimes. To me uprisings like this are a sign of a healthy society, one that still shows it has blood in its veins. I can't condone any of the human on human violence and I pray to truth and for the oceans that we collaborate, connect and change into a different way of living very soon.

Rideshare

I gave this 69 year old a ride from Nelson to Vancouver on her way to Sweden. She rubbed essential oils on my wrist and neck as this was her profession for many years, and it made me feel exceedingly light of spirit yet focused, aware and clear. We stopped here, in Keremeos, to look at all the pumpkins and gourds and take a break from our 8 hour journey. I snapped a photo and perhaps told her i would send it to her but i don't believe i ever got around to it. So this is my appeal.

Predictions:

Things start looking good. The prices at the pump go down for a week. The main stream media reports positive stock numbers. The sun starts shining brighter and hotter everyday...

Then a report. Finances are actually in trouble, oil is actually in trouble, the environment is actually in big big trouble.

The over-printing of money in America causes inflation then hyper-inflation...prices break down. All of a sudden 100,000 dollars is worth less than it previously was. -Also very convenient in erasing dept!- And your savings.

Gas prices rise astronomically. The hot gets hotter, the wet wetter, the dry driest. The volcanoes pop, the crust shimmies. Anything to try and correct it's natural earthy feel balance.

much later...

The market resets to a more natural state where prices are backed directly by assets. Things do become much more expensive and people are forced to live much more simpler based around the sun and the seasons. We are happy cold nosed, staring up at our breath, but warm and cozy in sheep and alpaca wool sheets and covers. Full of potatoes and corn and fresh, getting fresher, water. Our communities are stronger, our pride is deeper, our lives regain meaning and place in something much much bigger.

The future IS better we just have to survive the present.

WORD IS BOND

And if the current paradigm remains in place we will witness the end of the polar bear, the salmon, fresh clean water, topsoil. We will watch starvation on the grandest scale, poverty on the grandest scale, death on the grandest scale, Rape, Exploitation, War...our path has lead us to a dead end. It is time to get out of our comfortable yet numbing comfort zones and continue on our journey.

To: Mum

Here's a photo of me in December 2010 coming out of the ocean after swimming with pregnant turtles. It was a little startling when it was murky and a turtle would bump into you or swim by your face really close. You can't see them all but there were probably 1000 on the beach and an equal amount in the ocean popping their heads up once in a while, waiting to come ashore.

Silver

In November Silver was 27 dollars a troy ounce. Today, 5 months later, it is 37 dollars and still climbing. Why is it climbing? Many reasons. It is real, useful and a standard, much older, form of money/trade, 1 bar of silver = one cow and vise versa. Unlike today's credits and fiat currency -meaning not backed by anything, or fake - paper or plastic, this metal for whatever historic reason holds agreed upon value. Silver is so cheap these days for many reasons but the main one is the cheap source of fuel (oil) we HAD to mine the metal.

-In earlier times, silver has commanded much higher prices. In the early 15th century, the price of silver is estimated to have surpassed $800 per ounce, based on 1998 dollars.- wiki

If you had left the same amount of "cash" in the bank for five months you would have accrued approx. 5 dollars (which only 1/3rd of will actually BE at the bank). Im just saying...As our government prints whatever it needs the rest of the world gets poorer and more oppressed as do those below extreme wealth. And if you have been forced to go hungry, eating nothing for 1 day, you will know your extremities, how your self-ascribed positive attitude is based mainly on a full belly and the knowledge of a forth-coming meal, not to mention a hot shower, hot water, a rarely empty fridge. Eureka! We reach real value; health, food, clean water. We used to go by silver standard, then gold, then we turned it to oil standard but the FOOD STANDARD was there before silver or gold and is always the first naturally re-instated after a major crisis. This is the real currency that matters. The base of our control, whether we realize it or not, is food/health, not money, in making us happy productive citizens that are full and comfortable all the time. It is agri-corporations, business and politics that all profit from this induced state and we the citizens can hardly complain, I mean, who doesn't like chocolate peanut butter cheesecake in the middle of the night?. All Im saying is that The cultural gorge between our food and us is dangerously wide, and our vain sense of entitlement will only get one so far. How much is clean water worth? Clean soil? Clean air? With nuclear explosions, tar sand development and gigantic oil spills is the price rising in your mind?

When I lived in the Philippines for those two months and now believe was close to dying a few times including almost being burned to death (totally different story), I saw first hand the value of food. There were no restaurants or food stores. The town had the minimum amount of dry and canned product and all fresh meat was brought in once a day from the ocean, if that often. In luck the elder lady of my little bedhouse was a wealthy lady indeed. She had the most fields of coconut and rice. She mentioned to me that people are constantly asking her for rice and she "sometimes gives it but cannot give it all". As I'm sure you've heard commodities like wheat, rice and flour are all going up, some close to doubling their price per kilo from last year at this time. And these prices, I predict, will rise to the top of the peak before it is clear we are heading down for a swift swift bump? and like everything else, return to worthless numbers on a screen. But just before that vital moment if you have the things of real value and worth by your side...well, then you've chosen wisely.

So I mention silver as an investment only if your other bases are covered and you are doing nothing more with those numbers on the computer than watching them rack up penny's you will never spend or are worthless due to inflation. Plus a giant bar of silver makes a great paper weight.

Of course, This coming from a guy who lives predominately a nomadic life may seem strange. But let me assure you I am watching the face of this wave form, watching it section and curl, getting in the barrel...
I guess we can only watch and wait and see...and slowly poison the planet. Which brings me to my next topic: Activists - Are they working in vain? Lets get Extreme!

Thanks for reading.

White Water Wafting

Yup...I almost died...again.

8 stitches bitches

If you are walking to the bathroom in the middle of a moonless and starless night and step on someones face and need to save yourself from falling down a 10 foot hole and crushing that persons face to a pulp and lean to far to the right and slice open your forearm and need 8 stitches then it's nice to have a beautiful doctor on hand to help you fix yourself up.

Costa Rica - Nicaragua

It has been a while and so Im just going to write little memorabilia for myself. This winter I turned thirty And as a gift to myself I took off south to Mexico and beyond for 6 months of surfing and exploring. Of course Mexico was a blast and La Ticla was as peaceful and uncrossed as ever mainly due to the gang war to control the marijauna and turf war to keep foriegn investment out. Many young and kind people died in this war and it had the affect of scaring people away. Again I rested by the river surfin the days away, reading and watching the birds feed in the river.
I travelled up and down the Mexican 200 more than I would have hoped this season but it turned out alright in the end. The search for swell follws wierd and twisted paths. My last voyage was a five day 24 hour a day bus extravaganza all the way to costa rica. It started on the 28th of December and ended on the 2nd of January. I stopped for two days in San jaun to give my nerves a break and enjoy my birthday just a little.
The last month was completely consumed by beachtravellers and touring the country and surf lessons. As well as a damaging gash to my scalp from a surf fin and a virus or cold or infection that had me feeling I'll at least half of the time. I'm glad it happened and I'm glad it's over. I have a bunch of new friends and as always, or maybe even more now, an appreciation for every moment I have in this life and all the wonderful experiences I am constantly a part of. When you are a part of a life changing thought or moment it affects you even I you are not the primary subject. So now I move back to Nicaragua to live and revisit, this time longer than a day, my ol' friends from San jaun del sur who have aged four years like myself but are all the better for it and excited to share their lives. I would love to set up and write for a long while but i suppose it will have to wait until the ride comes to a complete stop and I am free to exit the vehicle.

Love you all even if I'm not there. Alan, you've inspired me to get real and go to the dentist, though it'll probably be third world. Ben, your photos are amazing, keep shooting and sharing. Lynn, thanks for being in Vancouver, even it's it's just a couple years, it's so nice to have you there when I get back to Canada. And mom, cause you're probably the first one to read this...I can't wait to spend some time with you eating pot cookies and playing crib ( ;

This was last week. My first time whitewater rafting. In this picture I was in the raft behind but on this rapid I came close to going overboard. Major fun!
